The case, which involved President Donald Trump and several top allies, was dismissed earlier this year amid serious questions about Willis’ conduct and that of her former lead prosecutor, Nathan Wade.
The hearing, led by Republican lawmakers, sought answers about Willis’ management of the investigation, including her decision to hire Wade. Questions focused on the $650,000 in public funds paid to him, their personal affair, and his influence on key prosecutorial decisions. Lawmakers also pressed for details about any financial benefits and other allegations of misconduct linked to the DA’s office.
The oversight committee emphasized that its work could inform future reforms, including enhanced legislative oversight over district attorneys to prevent similar conflicts of interest.
