A peaceful evening walk turned into a nightmare for a Georgia woman after she was brutally attacked in one of Savannah’s most well-known public parks.

Authorities say the shocking assault occurred Wednesday night at Forsyth Park, where a woman was suddenly ambushed by a stranger who emerged from nearby bushes and violently poured a corrosive chemical onto her head and face. The unprovoked attack has left the victim with devastating injuries and has shaken the local community.
The victim, identified as Ashley Wasielewski, suffered severe chemical burns to her face, neck, and scalp. Law enforcement officials confirmed she sustained third-degree burns and was rushed to Memorial Hospital in Augusta, where she remains under medical care.
According to investigators, the attacker appeared to target Wasielewski at random. Police said the suspect approached her from behind and dumped the liquid chemical on her before fleeing the scene. Authorities stressed that the victim had no prior connection to the attacker.
