At just 32 years old, Moore’s political career has been marked by rapid advancement. He first won election to the Georgia State House at age 24 and quickly rose to the state Senate in 2022, becoming a recognized conservative voice in the Peach State.
Moore’s tenure in Atlanta hasn’t been without controversy. In March 2024, he was effectively exiled from the State House for opposing a resolution honoring a former state senator accused of corruption. In January of the same year, Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns even directed police to arrest Moore after he attempted to attend a joint session of the State of the State address.
“I’ve already gone toe to toe with the Georgia swamp and beat them,” Moore stated. “I’m ready to do it again in Congress, every single day, with President Trump leading the charge.”
Moore has repeatedly emphasized his loyalty to conservative principles and the former president. “As Georgia’s #1-ranked conservative, my campaign and record prove that I am 100% Pro-Trump, 100% Pro-Life, and 100% Pro-Gun,” he added. “Northwest Georgia sent me to Atlanta to fight. Now I’m asking you to send me to Washington to get the job done.”
Greene’s resignation, which takes effect January 5, comes after weeks of intensified attacks from left-wing media and progressive outlets. Her departure will leave House Republicans one vote short, just as Democrats gear up for another government shutdown fight in Washington.
Governor Brian Kemp has announced plans to hold a special election in March to fill the vacant seat. Moore’s entry adds a high-profile, staunchly pro-Trump candidate to the race, setting the stage for a fierce Republican contest in the heart of Georgia’s conservative stronghold.
