Ellison, recently crowned the world’s second-richest man, gained control of Paramount through his son David’s Skydance Media merger.³ The Trump administration approved the merger, citing benefits for American consumers and a chance to break left-wing media monopolies.⁴
Trump expressed confidence in Ellison in October: “They’re friends of mine. They’re big supporters of mine. And they’ll do the right thing.”⁵ Unlike previous executives, Ellison is unlikely to cave to woke pressure.
Trump’s vision doesn’t stop with Rush Hour. He also urged Ellison to reboot the 1988 Jean-Claude Van Damme martial arts hit Bloodsport, signaling a strategy to flood theaters with bold, masculine action films Democrats have long tried to eliminate.⁶
Film producer Dallas Sonnier told Semafor, “a wave of classically male-driven movies with mentally tough, traditional, courageous, confident heroes. Maybe even a tad cocky, but dedicated to honor and duty. Plus, of course, a few explosions, gun battles, helicopters, fistfights, and car chases!”⁷
Hollywood’s leftist monopoly is crumbling before their eyes.
Trump’s Rush Hour revival also brings back a controversial director the Left thought canceled for good. Brett Ratner, who directed all three original films, recently completed a $40 million documentary about First Lady Melania Trump for Amazon.⁸
During the #MeToo movement, six women accused Ratner of sexual misconduct.⁹ He denied all allegations, and prosecutors never filed charges. But cancel culture destroyed his career: Warner Bros. terminated a $450 million deal, and multiple studios, including Paramount and Sony, rejected pitches for Rush Hour 4 because of him.¹⁰¹¹
After Trump’s November victory over Kamala Harris, the power dynamic shifted. Ratner now lands prestigious projects, including the Melania documentary, and stands ready to direct Rush Hour 4 if Ellison greenlights it. Among Trump allies, being canceled by Democrats has become a badge of honor rather than a career death sentence.
Even Jackie Chan defended Trump after the 2016 election. “Just give him a chance to try to change America and change the world,” Chan said. “He’s a businessman… I think he knows how to handle these types of things.”¹² Chris Tucker has also spoken positively of Trump in the past, though he supported Harris in 2024.¹³
Rush Hour producer Arthur Sarkissian runs the company behind The Man You Don’t Know, a pro-Trump documentary that premiered at Mar-a-Lago in 2024.¹⁴
Larry Ellison is emerging as one of the few billionaires willing to challenge woke Hollywood. The Paramount merger gives conservatives real influence in entertainment, offering Americans content they want, not leftist propaganda.
Trump even suggested CBS News would become “fairer” under Ellison’s control.¹⁶ Ellison is reportedly exploring an acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, which includes CNN, HBO, and the Warner Bros. film library. Discussions reportedly include replacing hosts who attacked Trump with journalists who might actually report fairly.¹⁷¹⁸
Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr told The Guardian that a Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery deal would be “very unlikely to require any review,” unlike previous mergers favoring left-wing companies.¹⁹
Inside Paramount, employees notice a cultural shift away from mandatory leftist conformity.²⁰ Hollywood studios can no longer push woke content and expect conservatives to show up. Rush Hour 4 embodies the type of entertainment Americans have long demanded.
After three decades of Democrats controlling Hollywood to push their agenda, conservatives are finally building their own entertainment alternatives. And this time, Democrats can’t stop them.
