Tatum had asked, “I want to ask you the question of, we know that it’s not a gun thing. Any rational person knows it’s not a gun thing. We know it’s a mental health issue. So I want to know from you, what does President Trump and the White House going to do to address mental health issues around the country associated with these shootings?”
Rather than seriously addressing the point, Psaki lashed out.
“Well, first off, Brandon, feels like someone in the White House may have written that question for you, but it is definitely a gun thing,” Psaki snapped.
Instead of debating facts, she questioned the integrity of the person asking.
Dismissing Mental Health, Doubling Down on Guns
Psaki didn’t stop there. She mocked Trump’s focus on psychiatric medication, specifically SSRI drugs, which have been linked to violent behavior.
She brushed off the idea of investigating those drugs as, “a little bit of a bizarre strategy.”
Think about that. A proposal to examine whether prescription drugs may be connected to violent outbursts was called “bizarre” by Psaki. What’s bizarre is dismissing an attempt to get to the root of the problem.
Psaki’s Three Demands
Psaki then rolled out three demands that made her agenda crystal clear.
First, she demanded universal background checks, claiming “more than 80 percent of the country supports them.”
Second, she pushed for blocking gun purchases from people deemed mentally ill — leaving the question of who gets to define “mental illness” wide open.
Finally, she called for “a ban on assault weapons when the majority of the country does.”
The problem? Those polls are notoriously misleading, often tricking respondents into believing they’re being asked about machine guns.
Every single one of Psaki’s demands targeted the rights of law-abiding Americans, not the actual causes of violence.
Exploiting Tragedy for Politics
Psaki even went after prayer, saying, “And what I said yesterday and will say again now, though, is that prayer alone is not enough to prevent and end the crisis of gun violence in America.”
This from the same political class that mocks faith at every turn — yet suddenly uses prayer as a political punchline when it suits them.
While Trump’s team wants to investigate social media radicalization, psychiatric drugs, and the underlying issues driving mass violence, Psaki and her allies only want one thing: more restrictions on gun owners.
The Real Agenda
It’s a familiar playbook. The Left never wants solutions. They want control. Every shooting becomes another excuse to chip away at the Second Amendment.
Meanwhile, Psaki collects a fat paycheck at MSNBC, turning heartbreak into a political weapon, while real families are left to pick up the pieces.
Donald Trump’s team is right to focus on mental health and the deeper factors behind these tragedies. But the media doesn’t care about root causes or real answers. They care about political wins.
And once again, Jen Psaki proved she’s willing to exploit tragedy if it means advancing her agenda.
