Another scandal has erupted in New York City politics, and this time it involves one of Mayor Eric Adams’ closest allies. A longtime aide and current campaign volunteer, Winnie Greco, has been caught in a bizarre payoff scheme that looks like it came straight out of a crime drama — hiding cash inside a bag of potato chips.
The Suspicious “Snack Drop”
According to multiple reports, Greco met with reporter Katie Honan from The City just steps away from Adams’ Harlem campaign headquarters. At first, the exchange seemed innocent. Greco offered Honan what looked like a bag of Herr’s sour cream and onion chips. But when the journalist opened the bag later, she discovered something shocking: a red envelope containing at least one $100 bill and several $20s.
Honan refused the chips at first, believing it was just a snack, but Greco allegedly insisted. That insistence has now blown up into a full-blown scandal.
