“If the Biden people decide that Kamala Harris is coming after Joe Biden, wait until you hear the Palin-esque stories about how much they tried to help her be prepared to be vice president and be in a position to run, and how they decided, ‘not happening. She’s not up to this,’” Halperin warned.
That “Palin-esque” comparison is devastating — a direct reference to John McCain’s memoir where he expressed regret for picking Sarah Palin as his 2008 running mate. For Harris, such a public humiliation from her own party could be politically fatal.
Halperin went further, revealing that Biden’s people bent over backwards to make Harris look competent.
“The folks in the Biden administration, including the president himself, were very protective of her, did their best to make her a success, did their best to make her ready to be president either if Joe Biden left office prematurely or if she decided she wanted to run,” Halperin said.
Harris was given high-profile meetings with foreign leaders, VIP treatment on overseas trips, and endless opportunities to beef up her résumé. Still, according to insiders, she couldn’t rise to the occasion.
“They tried to get her up to speed, but she was not quite ready for prime time. Let me put it that way,” Halperin added.
In other words — after years of political grooming, she still wasn’t prepared to lead.
This feud exposes what many already suspected: Democrat “unity” was always a façade. Behind the closed doors of the White House, even Harris’s own party doubted her qualifications. What the Biden team ran for Harris wasn’t a mentorship program — it was political triage. And when 2024 rolled around, none of it saved her from a crushing defeat.
Now, both Biden and Harris are racing to shape the narrative. Biden’s book will try to cement his version of events, while Harris’s memoir could turn into a political kamikaze mission — taking shots at the President while risking her own credibility.
Kamala Harris faces a crossroads: either play it safe and protect Biden from blame, or go scorched-earth and risk having her own failures exposed in painful detail. Her history of questionable political instincts makes the latter more likely.
The Democrat civil war is no longer a question of “if” — it’s already here. And with Mark Halperin’s warning ringing in the air, the first shot has been fired.
