Jussie’s Netflix Deal Has Americans Outraged

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

But Netflix’s promotional spin is what truly disgusts observers. They’re pitching the documentary as “a shocking true story of an allegedly fake story that some now say might just be a true story.” That’s not journalism. That’s gaslighting.

Hollywood Tries to Rewrite History

Let’s not forget what happened.

Trump Survivor Coin

Back in January 2019, Smollett claimed two men attacked him in the middle of a freezing Chicago night, hurling racial and homophobic slurs, pouring bleach on him, and leaving a noose around his neck.

The incident sparked national outrage—until investigators found out Smollett staged the whole thing.

He paid two Nigerian brothers, Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, $3,500 to fake the attack. The brothers later testified under oath that it was all a publicity stunt to boost Smollett’s career.

Chicago PD’s investigation cost taxpayers over $130,000. A jury ultimately convicted Smollett on five felony counts of disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to 150 days in jail—but served just six.

Illinois Supreme Court Tosses Conviction on a Technicality

To make matters worse, Smollett’s conviction was overturned by the Illinois Supreme Court in late 2024. But not because he was innocent.

The court said Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx had already struck a deal to drop charges in exchange for a forfeited bond and community service. So when a special prosecutor later refiled charges, the court ruled Smollett’s rights were violated.

“This was not a decision on the merits of the case – whether or not he’s guilty or not guilty, or he did it or he didn’t do it,” legal analyst Irv Miller clarified.

Even Special Prosecutor Dan Webb stood firm:
“Today’s ruling does not change how deeply proud I am of the work my Special Prosecutor’s office accomplished; nor does it undermine the jury’s verdict, and most importantly, it does not clear Jussie Smollett’s name – he is not innocent.”

Smollett Profits From His Lie

Instead of making restitution to the city, Smollett struck a May 2025 deal to donate $50,000 to a local charity, sweeping the entire scandal under the rug.

His statement? Smollett called himself “exonerated” and said he was “innocent both in the eyes of God and of our criminal justice system.”

He still claims the attack was real—despite overwhelming proof that it wasn’t.

And now Netflix is putting him back in the spotlight.

Why This Should Outrage Every American

This isn’t about “telling both sides.” This is about laundering the reputation of a man who used race and hate for personal gain.

Director Gagan Rehill says the film seeks to explore the cultural divisions of 2019. In his words, the documentary aims to examine “the particular moment of rapid cultural change when this takes place in 2019; when, as a society, we were becoming more combative, more polarized, more divergent over our shared reality.”

But that’s not what this is.

This is a calculated campaign to muddy the waters and rewrite public memory. Netflix knows the facts. They just don’t care.

As the Osundairo brothers said in a post-ruling statement:
“The Brothers stand by their sworn testimony; their honesty, veracity, credibility, and truthfulness for their role in the event was not questioned by the Supreme Court.”

Smollett’s Hoax Was Never About Justice—It Was About Power

Jussie Smollett weaponized racial tensions. He smeared Trump supporters. He wasted police resources. And now he’s getting a Netflix payday for it.

This isn’t just a documentary. It’s a middle finger to every taxpayer who footed the bill, to every real victim of hate, and to every American who believes in truth over narrative.

Netflix and Hollywood aren’t interested in facts. They’re interested in controversy, clicks, and cash.

Smollett wanted fame. He got infamy. Now, thanks to Netflix, he’s getting both.

And that, more than anything, shows exactly what kind of sickness has infected America’s media and entertainment class.
