The overlap between Bondi’s CPAC cancellation and the WSJ exposé is striking—and it has the conservative world asking: was the “torn cornea” explanation simply a smokescreen?
According to the Wall Street Journal, Bondi had reviewed what she called a “truckload” of documents tied to Epstein. Senior officials reportedly said Bondi and her deputy sat down with President Trump in May at the White House to let him know that his name was mentioned in those records—alongside several other high-profile figures.
However, Bondi reportedly downplayed the findings, calling them “unverified hearsay.” That hasn’t stopped left-wing media outlets and anti-Trump pundits from attempting to spin the story as a major scandal.
“When Justice Department officials reviewed what Attorney General Pam Bondi called a ‘truckload’ of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein earlier this year, they discovered that Donald Trump’s name appeared multiple times, according to senior administration officials,” The Wall Street Journal wrote.
“In May, Bondi and her deputy informed the president at a meeting in the White House that his name was in the Epstein files, the officials said. Many other high-profile figures were also named, Trump was told. Being mentioned in the records isn’t a sign of wrongdoing,” the article added.
The Department of Justice didn’t take kindly to the WSJ piece, slamming it as a deceptive hit job meant to smear Trump and generate clicks.
“This is a collection of falsehoods and innuendo designed to push a bullshit narrative and drive clicks,” said DOJ spokesman Gates McGavick.
The Biden DOJ has already requested that three separate courts unseal grand jury documents tied to Epstein—yet another development fueling speculation that this is all politically motivated, especially with the 2024 election fast approaching.
Bondi, who has built a strong reputation among conservatives for her legal expertise and fierce advocacy for child protection, now finds herself in the middle of a media whirlwind. Whether her CPAC exit was truly health-related or a strategic dodge remains unclear—but the optics are troubling.
Conservatives are watching closely, and many are calling for transparency. If the Epstein files are being weaponized for political gain—especially against Trump—it would mark yet another disturbing example of the justice system being hijacked for partisan warfare.
For now, Bondi remains out of the spotlight—nursing a torn cornea, or perhaps, dodging political fallout. Either way, the heat is rising, and this story is far from over.
