Epstein’s Last Words: Worse Than We Thought

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Epstein, a disgraced financier convicted of sex crimes, was awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges when he was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Detention Center on August 10, 2019. He was 66 years old. Officially, the medical examiner declared his death a suicide, but that has done little to quiet speculation that foul play was involved to keep his secrets buried.

Despite the cryptic nature of Epstein’s final words, the Department of Justice has recently closed the door on any alternative explanations for his demise. This week, the DOJ reiterated that no credible evidence suggests Epstein was murdered while in custody.

The announcement comes as part of a broader statement addressing lingering conspiracy theories about Epstein’s supposed “client list” and allegations that he may have been blackmailing powerful figures. The DOJ’s memo, obtained by Axios, bluntly stated investigators found “no incriminating ‘client list’” and “no credible evidence … that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals.”

Further, video surveillance from inside the Manhattan jail, according to the DOJ, backs the medical examiner’s suicide ruling. But even that hasn’t satisfied the public’s appetite for answers.

Michael Wolff, who said Epstein once asked him to write his biography back in 2014—a request he declined—admitted he remains perplexed over how Epstein died. “I don’t know,” he confessed when pressed for his own theory. “He could not, as described, have killed himself,” Wolff said — while also noting, “As the circumstances presented, he could not have been murdered.”

The DOJ appears determined to shut the book on the Epstein saga. The memo insists there will be “no further disclosure” of materials tied to Epstein’s dealings, suggesting transparency on the case has reached its limits. “We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties,” the memo said.

It also confirmed much of the related documentation remains locked under court orders to shield victims’ identities. Even if Epstein had gone to trial, only limited material would have been revealed. The memo clarifies the sealed records were intended to protect victims—not to hide evidence of wrongdoing by other powerful individuals.

“Through this review, we found no basis to revisit the disclosure of those materials and will not permit the release of child pornography,” the memo continued.

Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has been vocal about possible secrets buried in the Epstein case, found herself under intense scrutiny after the DOJ’s statement. In February, Bondi had told Fox News she possessed a client list allegedly tied to Epstein’s network and pledged to reveal it soon. However, her claims have yet to materialize with concrete evidence.

Further muddying the waters, the Justice Department reportedly shared “declassified” binders with far-right influencers in Washington, only for many to discover the contents were already public knowledge. The move frustrated conservatives who hoped for a significant revelation and only fueled suspicions of a continuing cover-up.

Bondi later stated she’d learned of “thousands of pages” of previously documented records and had instructed the FBI to produce “the full and complete Epstein files,” including any video evidence. As of May, she claimed the FBI was reviewing “tens of thousands of videos” allegedly involving Epstein “with children or child porn.”

Yet, for all the talk of damning evidence and mysterious deaths, official channels insist there’s simply no proof of a grand conspiracy. Whether the public—or Epstein’s critics—will accept that remains an entirely different question.

In the end, the only undeniable fact is that Epstein, moments before dying in a prison cell that should have been secure, left behind three chilling words echoing through the corridors of speculation: “Still hanging around.”
