For months, the progressive wing of the Democratic Party has been in full meltdown mode as President Donald Trump returned to the White House with a mission to restore border security. Leading the outrage chorus is none other than Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has tried to vilify every step of Trump’s immigration crackdown.
But Florida just sent her a message she won’t soon forget.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier just confirmed that the state is moving forward with a plan that has left D.C. Democrats sputtering. A massive 17,000-acre site in the Florida Everglades—at the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport—is being transformed into a high-security detention center for illegal immigrants awaiting deportation.
Critics on the Left have mockingly dubbed the site “Alligator Alcatraz,” apparently hoping the nickname would shame state leaders into retreat. That gamble backfired spectacularly.
