Minnesota was rocked early Saturday by a horrifying ambush targeting two Democratic state lawmakers in what authorities are calling a premeditated and coordinated assassination attempt carried out by a suspect pretending to be a police officer.
Former State House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were gunned down in their Brooklyn Park home, while Senator John Hoffman and his wife were critically wounded at their residence in nearby Champlin. Law enforcement says both attacks occurred just miles apart and within the same narrow window of time—indicating clear coordination and malicious intent.
Dressed Like a Cop. Shoots Like a Killer.
According to law enforcement, the shooter—who remains at large—is a white male outfitted in black body armor, wearing a blue shirt and blue pants to appear like a legitimate officer. He reportedly posed as law enforcement while infiltrating the homes of the two elected officials before opening fire.
