He referenced the chaos of 1968, pointing out, “[In] 1968, every city in the United States was burning. There was National Guard surrounding the White House and the Capitol, and we’d lost Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy and Tet Offensive (Vietnam War).”
It’s not often that Hollywood admits to nuance when it comes to attacking Trump, but Clooney’s comments prove that even the Left knows how absurd CNN’s narrative has become.
After Cooper’s attempt to rewrite history fell flat, the two shifted gears to attack conservative media efforts and, more specifically, Trump’s pushback on dishonest journalism.
Clooney lamented that it’s a “scary time” to be in the news industry — a laughable claim, considering how the media has operated as the Democratic Party’s mouthpiece for decades.
What’s really “scary” to the Left is being held accountable.
For example, Trump has launched a $20 billion lawsuit accusing 60 Minutes of deceptively editing a Kamala Harris interview to shield Democrats from criticism. The edited segment made its way across social media in October 2024, thanks to an X post by popular video curator @Mazemoore.
He flagged the clip, stating: “Remember Kamala’s word salad answer about Israel on 60 Minutes? It’s gone. This is what many Americans will now see.”
Rather than address the concern, Clooney chose to label Trump’s efforts as “demagoguery.”
Toward the end of the segment, Cooper asked the actor if Trump’s “MAGA movement” would outlast his presidency.
“Don’t think so,” Clooney confidently declared. “I think it’d be very hard to do it.”
Clooney went on to portray Trump as some sort of political unicorn — impossible to replicate once he’s off the stage.
“He [Trump] is also a celebrity, and he is charming. And to the people who like him, they think he’s funny. To a great many others, they don’t. And so when he is finished, and he will be finished, they’re going to have to go looking for someone who can deliver the message that he delivered with the same kind of charisma. And they don’t have that.”
It’s ironic that the Hollywood elite still underestimates the energy behind MAGA — the same grassroots energy that led to Trump shocking the world in 2016 and earning a historic number of votes again in 2020.
And speaking of 2016, let’s not forget Clooney’s past political crystal ball prediction: “There’s not going to be a President Donald Trump. Fear is not going to drive our country.”
We all know how that turned out.
Clooney’s latest media appearance is yet another example of out-of-touch Hollywood elites trying to dictate the future of American politics from their ivory towers.
While he’s busy directing plays about journalists battling boogeymen from the 1950s, millions of Americans are dealing with inflation, open borders, and a media apparatus that gaslights them daily.
If Clooney and Cooper think smearing Trump will change that — they’re in for another rude awakening come November.
