Funny how quickly Democrats forget the importance of enforcing immigration laws when the arrests hit close to their million-dollar homes. One would think Healey would be grateful that a known gang member and a child predator are no longer roaming free in Massachusetts. But no—the outrage is over optics and politics, not public safety.
Let’s not forget the irony here. Just a couple of years ago, when Governor DeSantis sent a few dozen illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard to highlight the Biden administration’s border disaster, the island’s liberal residents couldn’t get rid of them fast enough. Within 48 hours, they were escorted off the island by the National Guard. So much for being a “sanctuary.”
Now, ICE steps in to clean up what progressive policies have allowed to fester, and the response from the Democrat governor is outrage and finger-pointing. Where was this energy when the border was being overrun? Where was this concern for transparency when illegal aliens flooded into red states with no warning?
This latest raid serves as a stark reminder of the disconnect between elite liberals and everyday Americans. While the ruling class on the Vineyard sips Chardonnay and lectures the country about inclusion, federal agents are arresting dangerous criminals in their backyard. The left doesn’t want border enforcement—they want chaos, so long as it stays out of their gated communities.
What happened in Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard is a step in the right direction. ICE did what it’s supposed to do—remove individuals who pose a threat to the public. And if Governor Healey finds that “disturbing,” maybe she should re-evaluate her priorities.
The American people want safe neighborhoods, secure borders, and the rule of law—not virtue signaling from politicians who refuse to face reality. Bravo to ICE for doing the job the Biden administration has tried to sweep under the rug. It’s about time someone took a stand—even if it ruffled a few feathers in the cocktail circuit of the Vineyard.
ICE should continue doing their job without “assistance” or coordination from any agency in a sanctuary state. If they had given you a heads up on their upcoming raid, you and your minions would have interferred. I for one hope all future ICE raids are conducted this way. Most citizens in this country applaud and appreciate the job ICE officers are doing.
