Portnoy’s EPIC Move After Anti-Jewish Sign in Philly

In a follow-up message, Portnoy revealed that he took decisive action. Every staff member connected to the disgraceful event was immediately terminated. “Everybody involved on their staff who let this happen was fired instantly,” he stated, wasting no time to show there’s zero tolerance for hate under his roof.

Rather than just rage about it, though, Portnoy is turning the moment into a powerful educational opportunity. He announced that the two individuals responsible agreed to his proposal: a sobering, no-frills trip to Auschwitz to confront the horrors of the Holocaust firsthand.

“Let’s try to, like, turn a hideous incident into maybe a learning experience,” Portnoy said, showing leadership in the face of hatred.

“To me, that’s a fair outcome of this event,” he added, explaining the plan to send them to the historic site where millions of Jews were murdered under Nazi rule.

“We’re going to send them … to Auschwitz and learn a little bit about history and hopefully, you know, get educated and use this as a teaching moment, not just for them, but maybe for everybody.”

Meanwhile, Temple University officials are scrambling to contain the fallout. In a Sunday statement, the school confirmed that their students were involved in what they described as “an antisemitic incident at an off-campus location.”

University leadership said they have identified at least one student tied to the incident and have already placed that individual on interim suspension. Temple has not released the student’s name but emphasized that the investigation is active — and anyone else found responsible could face harsh punishment, including expulsion.

Temple President John Fry minced no words in his statement, declaring, “In the strongest terms possible, let me be clear: antisemitism is abhorrent. It has no place at Temple and acts of hatred and discrimination against any person or persons are not tolerated at this university.”

The entire episode has triggered fierce national debate about the rising tide of anti-Semitism, especially on college campuses. Critics are demanding institutions take stronger action to root out bigotry and ignorance wherever it surfaces.

As for Portnoy, his swift, decisive response is winning praise from many who see him not just as a media mogul — but as someone willing to stand up and fight when hatred rears its ugly head.
