$1B FEMA Funds Vanish Under Biden-Kamala!

FEMA’s Funding Crisis

Reports have surfaced that for the second year in a row, FEMA has put long-term recovery projects on hold due to a significant shortfall in its Disaster Relief Fund (DRF). According to a recent report from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the shortage stems from FEMA’s decision to prioritize funding programs for illegal immigrants over critical disaster recovery projects.

As it stands, more than 614 major disaster declarations remain open, with some stretching back nearly 20 years. This backlog has sparked widespread outrage, as many Americans feel abandoned by their own government in favor of policies aimed at aiding illegal immigrants.

FEMA has estimated that it will fall approximately $7 billion short of the funds needed to manage new disasters, with officials blaming Congress for not appropriating more money to the agency. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters, “We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting… FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”

Some of the largest disaster operations that are now on hold.

But many see this explanation as insufficient, pointing to mismanagement and reckless spending decisions by the Biden-Harris administration.

Redirecting Funds to Illegal Immigration

Perhaps most shocking is the revelation that FEMA, under Biden-Harris, has allocated over $1 billion in taxpayer dollars to fund programs for illegal immigrants. America First Legal, a conservative organization, shared details on X (formerly Twitter), outlining the extent of FEMA’s transformation into an agency focused on resettling illegal immigrants.

According to the organization, FEMA spent $364 million in the 2023 fiscal year and allocated another $650 million for 2024 to provide humanitarian services to illegal immigrants released from DHS custody. This funding has been used for shelter, food, gift cards, and hotel accommodations for illegal immigrants, while Americans impacted by Hurricane Helene continue to struggle with little to no support.

“Over the last 4 years, the Biden-Harris admin has steadily transformed FEMA — the agency responsible for responding to natural disasters like Hurricane Helene — into an illegal alien resettlement agency,” America First Legal claimed in a series of posts.

Equity Over Disaster Relief?

Critics also argue that the Biden-Harris administration has infused FEMA’s operations with a radical “equity” agenda that undermines disaster relief efforts. FEMA’s strategic plan, which includes a commitment to “Instill Equity as a Foundation of Emergency Management,” has drawn significant backlash. The plan outlines goals such as prioritizing housing eligibility for vulnerable populations, including non-English speakers, and pushing for “equitable outcomes” in disaster recovery.

The administration’s approach, which includes tracking “distributive justice” outcomes, has been interpreted by many as a form of discrimination. FEMA’s guide, released in November 2023, advocates for “Achieving Equitable Recovery,” emphasizing factors such as race, sex, and sexual orientation in determining disaster relief priorities.

FEMA’s equity-focused strategy has led some to believe that disaster relief is now being distributed based on political ideology rather than need. The guide even identifies groups like “people of color,” “women,” and the “LGBTQ+ community” as disproportionately impacted by disasters, while seemingly neglecting other groups, including white men.

FEMA’s Controversial Priorities

The storm’s devastation is far from over, and with Hurricane Helene continuing to wreak havoc, the American public is left questioning FEMA’s priorities. In addition to focusing on equity initiatives, FEMA has directed hundreds of millions of dollars to programs designed to aid illegal immigrants, while delaying crucial disaster recovery projects that could help Americans rebuild their homes and lives.

As Americans drown in the aftermath of one of the deadliest storms in recent memory, many are left asking: why has FEMA, under the Biden-Harris administration, become more concerned with advancing a political agenda than fulfilling its primary mission of disaster relief?

In summary, FEMA’s focus on equity and illegal immigration under the current administration is leaving many Americans feeling abandoned in their time of greatest need. As the crisis worsens, it remains to be seen how much longer citizens can wait for help while funds are diverted elsewhere.
