A stunning new survey out of Yale is sending shockwaves through Washington. For the first time in years, America’s youngest voters appear to be walking away from the Democratic Party—and they’re doing it in droves.
According to the Yale Youth Poll conducted this spring, voters between the ages of 18 and 21 favor Republican candidates by double digits. That’s right—the same age group that Democrats once considered their strongest base is now leaning toward the GOP by nearly 12 points.
Meanwhile, those slightly older, between 22 and 29, still lean Democrat by about six points. But that gap looks small compared to the generational earthquake happening among the newest voters just entering the political arena.
This is not just a minor shift—it’s historic. For decades, Democrats enjoyed a lock on young Americans, especially those in college classrooms. But the tide appears to be turning, and the left has only itself to blame.
