PBS reports that Wood chose to “retired” his Georgia law license on July 5 rather than risk any repercussions from the state bar’s continuing disciplinary proceedings against him.
In a letter to Georgia Bar representatives in July 2023, Wood requested permission to “transfer to Retired Status effective immediately.” He claimed that this decision was “irrevocable and permanent” and that he was not allowed to represent himself or practice law in Georgia or anyplace else.
