Ivanka’s recent appearance on the Skinny Confidential’s Him & Her Show podcast shed further light on her decision. In a candid conversation, she did not mince words about her feelings toward the political world. “I hate politics,” she admitted. “I love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable.”
She went on to describe politics as a “very dark, negative business,” adding that this negativity played a significant role in her decision to leave Washington behind. While Ivanka acknowledged the importance of policymaking and the positive changes she worked on, the toxicity of the political landscape was too much for her to bear.
Unlike her father, who thrives on the combative nature of politics, Ivanka openly admitted that the constant battle was not for her. “Some people love the gladiator aspect of it—the fight. That was never me,” she said.
Following the 2020 election, Ivanka and Kushner relocated to South Florida, seeking a quieter, more family-focused life. The move was deliberate, as Ivanka wanted to shield her three young children from the “darkness” she felt permeated Washington, D.C. “There is a darkness to that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine,” she said.
Even though she briefly re-entered the spotlight to support her father during his inauguration, Ivanka described her role that day as purely familial. “To know that he can be with me, and be himself and just relax, and for me to be able to provide that for him in a very loving way as his daughter,” she said, reflecting on the intense pressures her father faces daily.

For Ivanka, family remains the ultimate priority. “The main reason I am not going back to serve now is I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear,” she said. While she cherished the opportunity to make a difference during her father’s administration, the demands of political life clashed with her role as a mother.
As Donald Trump gears up for a potential second term, he has surrounded himself with a new team, more aligned with his bold “America First” vision. Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump is making it clear that her time in the political spotlight has come to an end.
With Ivanka stepping away, it remains to be seen how her absence will shape the dynamics of the Trump legacy. For now, she seems content to leave the political battles to others while focusing on the family life she has chosen.
