While the mainstream media has largely ignored Harrelson’s comments, conservatives on social media have been quick to condemn the actor’s words as a clear example of Hollywood’s deep-seated hatred toward Donald Trump and his supporters. Calls for accountability are growing, with many pointing out that if a conservative actor had said anything remotely similar about Joe Biden, they’d be permanently blacklisted and investigated by the Secret Service within hours.
Harrelson’s remarks are particularly ironic considering his recent public praise for independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The actor has spoken glowingly of RFK Jr.’s efforts to challenge corporate and political corruption, including his criticism of Big Pharma. “It’s really heroic how much he stood up for things that he didn’t need to talk about, that didn’t help him,” Harrelson said earlier this year on The Joe Rogan Experience. “He just took one arrow after the other over it.”
However, Harrelson’s apparent admiration for Kennedy Jr. contrasts sharply with his violent fantasy about Trump. While RFK Jr. has positioned himself as a unifier seeking to bridge divides, Harrelson’s rhetoric echoes the very kind of political hatred Kennedy has repeatedly warned against.
The actor didn’t stop there. During the same interview, Harrelson launched into a profanity-laced rant about Dr. Anthony Fauci, calling him a “monster” who abused power during the pandemic. “It’s just a bummer that someone had that kind of power for so long and was such a f-cking monster,” he said.
While Harrelson’s frustration with Fauci resonated with many Americans tired of pandemic-era corruption, his violent suggestion toward Trump crossed a moral and legal line that cannot be ignored. Threatening harm — even in jest — against a former president isn’t just “bad taste,” it’s potentially criminal. Yet, predictably, there’s been no call from Hollywood or the media to hold Harrelson accountable.
Adding another layer to this controversy is Harrelson’s own family history. His father, Charles Harrelson, was a notorious contract killer who was convicted of multiple murders and died in prison in 2007. Given that dark background, Woody’s casual mention of “slipping cyanide” takes on an even more chilling undertone.
In a time when political violence is on the rise, comments like Harrelson’s only fuel division and hatred. The silence from the left over such rhetoric is deafening — and a reminder of the glaring double standard that continues to define Hollywood and the liberal elite.
