The Just Stop Oil movement’s climate demonstrators on Saturday temporarily stopped the Pride procession in London, dividing two previously linked organizations.
Seven young protestors are shown on video sleeping in front of a colorful double-decker bus sponsored by Coca-Cola that is decorated with Pride flags and rainbow-colored paint. The Just Stop Oil activists bucked convention by painting the road in contrasting black and white before positioned themselves in front of the bus while dressed in rainbow colors and capes made from Pride flags.

As the enormous march was stopped, the demonstrators shouted “just stop oil.”
Climate campaigners objected to Pride London’s intention to allow sponsorships from “high-polluting industries,” which led to the event’s cancelation.
Traffic-blocking climate demonstrators were immediately removed in this case by law police. The incident was brief since the police quickly entered the scene and instantly made seven people wanted for public nuisance violations.
“These partnerships embarrass the LGBTQ+ community at a time when much of the cultural world is rejecting ties to these toxic industries,” the group said. “High-polluting industries and the banks that fund them now see Pride as a useful vehicle for sanitizing their reputations, waving rainbow flags in one hand whilst accelerating social collapse with the other.”
The Just Stop Oil demonstration, which appeared to drive a rift between the normally overlapping beliefs, elicited conflicting reactions from Pride London participants. “Yes, we need to get big oil companies out of Pride. Yes, queer people need to take the climate crisis seriously. But threatening a Pride event when so many of us are under attack right now…not the one. We need to come together, not attack each other,” one LGBT activist wrote.

The Just Stop Oil protestors were led away to loud applause from the parade attendees. After around 15 minutes, the protest was over, enabling the march to continue.
