ABC’s “The View” hit a new low this week—though with that show, it’s hard to say where rock bottom really is anymore.
During a bizarre and chaotic segment about Iran’s treatment of women and dissidents, co-host Whoopi Goldberg made the outrageous claim that black Americans face the same kind of oppression here in the U.S. as women and LGBTQ individuals do under the brutal theocratic regime in Iran—where dress codes are strictly enforced, and homosexuality can lead to execution.
Yes, you read that correctly.
The whole disaster unfolded as the women attempted (and failed) to intelligently discuss foreign policy and the situation in Iran. Unsurprisingly, the conversation quickly spiraled into an incoherent shouting match.
