Trump called CNN’s Kaitlan Collins a “very nasty person” for interfering with their Town Hall meeting and criticized her for doing so.
Collins, a former White House correspondent for CNN, disagreed with Trump on how he handled sensitive information when he was president. When questioned about the federal inquiry into the situation, President Biden’s retention of comparable records in several low-security areas was brought up by Trump as a deterrent.
“But Joe Biden didn’t ignore a subpoena to get those documents back like you did,” Collins interjected. “Joe Biden took 150 boxes!” Trump responded right away. “So that’s the question that investigators have I think is why you held on to those documents when you knew the federal government was seeking them and then had given you a subpoena to return them,” The CNN anchor responded next.
“Are you ready? Are you ready, can I talk? Do you mind?” an irritated Trump answered. “I would like for you to answer the question, that’s why I asked it,” Collins stated.
“Its very simple to answer… you know you are a nasty person, I’ll tell ya!” The crowd cheered and laughed as Trump then yelled.
On social media, several criticized Collins for frequently interrupting Trump and for her confrontational questioning style. “In a serious country Kaitlin Collins would be serving cocktails at a second rate casino. Well, in some metaphorical sense that’s what she is doing at CNN,” Darren Beattie, the creator of Revolver News, remarked.
“CNN having Kaitlin Collins “moderate” that Townhall was almost as bad a decision as FOX’s firing Tucker,” Former Trump White House staffer and conservative broadcaster Sebastian Gorka added his voice.
