The World Economic Forum (WEF) has sparked a firestorm of controversy with a recent statement that seems to confirm the suspicions of many: the COVID-19 pandemic was not only a public health crisis but also a “test” of global compliance. Critics have long warned that the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, mask mandates, and other restrictions were part of a larger plan to reshape society. Now, the WEF’s words are being interpreted as an admission that this was all a prelude to a more authoritarian global order.
On its “My Carbon” page, the WEF laid out a vision for what it calls “smart and sustainable cities,” noting three essential steps to achieve this goal. The first, titled “COVID-19 was the test of social responsibility,” lays the groundwork for the argument. According to the WEF, “A huge number of unimaginable restrictions for public health were adopted by billions of citizens across the world… which demonstrated the core of individual social responsibility.”

Many skeptics of the official pandemic narrative have interpreted this as evidence that COVID-19 was a global compliance exercise. Throughout the pandemic, millions questioned the logic of many mandates, wondering why certain businesses were allowed to operate while others were forced to close. Why were strip clubs open in Michigan, but people were restricted from buying seeds for their gardens? These seemingly arbitrary rules only fueled suspicions.
