The Trump campaign released a long list of fresh endorsements from South Carolina’s political elite earlier in the day. “Today, President Donald J. Trump expanded his South Carolina leadership team to over 80 current and former Republican officials endorsing his campaign, including some who previously supported Senator Tim Scott,” the campaign wrote in an official press release. “President Trump has the most endorsements of any candidate running for president, including South Carolina legislators, than all opposing candidates combined.”

Together with distinguished State Senator Ronnie Cromer, we are pleased to announce the support of distinguished State Representatives Bruce Bannister, Jeff Johnson, Weston Newton, Brandon Cox, and Mark Smith.

Even though he has faced opposition from more seasoned politicians like Senator Tim Scott and the state’s former governor, Trump has garnered a sizable following from well-known people. Governor Henry McMaster, Attorney General Alan Wilson, U.S. Representatives Russel Fry, William Timmons, and Joe Wilson, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, and a host of state legislators, mayors, and other Republican officials are among the prominent figures who have endorsed him.

South Carolina was the starting point for Trump’s campaign’s considerable momentum, which was crucial in his journey to winning the nomination in 2016. At first seen as a bastion for former governor Jeb Bush, Trump prevailed over Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio in a fiercely competitive race.

According to recent surveys, Trump still has a sizable lead over Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the state. With an astounding 52% of the vote, the former president leads the Republican primary in November’s Winthrop University poll. With 17 percent of the vote, Haley is in second place, and DeSantis is in third place with only 11 percent. Trump continues to have commanding and strong support.
