In a heated exchange on the Fox News show “The Five,” liberal contributor Jessica Tarlov found herself at the center of a fiery debate after she repeated the widely debunked claim that former President Donald Trump advised Americans to “inject bleach” as a treatment for COVID-19. The claim, which has been labeled as a hoax, was met with immediate skepticism and pushback from her co-hosts, particularly from Greg Gutfeld.
As Tarlov brought up the old accusation, co-host Jeanine Pirro interjected with a dismissive “Oh, come on,” signaling her disbelief at the resurfacing of the discredited narrative. Greg Gutfeld quickly followed suit, labeling the claim a hoax. “That’s a hoax,” Gutfeld asserted as Tarlov tried to support her statement. When Tarlov insisted, “It’s not a hoax,” Gutfeld challenged her, saying, “he never said that” and urging her to look it up. The tension in the room was palpable as Gutfeld continued to press the point: “It never happened! You are literally living in a delusion right now. That never was said. Do the research. No one ever said injecting bleach,” he added emphatically.

Tarlov, visibly flustered, reached for her phone to find evidence supporting her claim. Yet, Gutfeld’s challenge was firm and rooted in the facts. The controversy stems from an April 2020 White House press briefing where President Trump mused about possible COVID-19 treatments. The specific comments he made were, “And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. So, that, you’re going to have to use medical doctors with. But it sounds – it sounds interesting to me.”
