The discussion occurred during an interview commemorating the second anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Whitmer had pointed fingers at Trump for spearheading moves toward tough national abortion laws, but her statement met with skepticism.
During the segment, Governor Whitmer criticized the former president, saying, “He [Trump] appointed three justices to the Supreme Court who went into Congress and lied. And we would not be in this moment but for Donald Trump.” She further emphasized the critical role Trump played, suggesting his actions were directly leading to a national abortion ban and highlighted the urgency of electing Joe Biden in the upcoming election.
