During the Texas Youth Action Summit on Saturday, an unexpected scene unfolded as U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) encountered a protester who stormed the stage mid-event. Gaetz, known for his sharp wit, had a priceless response that left the crowd laughing and energized.
The protester, a large individual reportedly dressed in women’s clothing, advanced towards Gaetz while he was delivering his speech. “This is a very strange individual,” Gaetz remarked calmly as the protester was quickly intercepted by security and escorted off the stage. The incident, however, didn’t end with the protester’s removal. Gaetz followed up the disruption with a remark that drew applause and cheers from the audience: “Was that Liz Cheney?”—a jab at the Republican representative’s longtime rival.
