On Friday, a heated moment unfolded on the House floor as Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) launched a fiery tirade against what she called the influence of “President Musk” in derailing a bipartisan spending bill. Her dramatic outburst quickly became a focal point in the ongoing government shutdown debate, as lawmakers on both sides wrestle with the looming midnight deadline.
DeLauro, a veteran Democrat who has represented Connecticut since 1991, did not hold back as she accused Elon Musk, the influential billionaire and a staunch ally of President-elect Donald Trump, of pressuring House Republicans to abandon a bipartisan agreement. “We agreed on a bill, and you know what? They got scared because President Musk told them, President Musk said ‘Don’t do it, don’t do it, shut the government down,’” DeLauro shouted, her frustration evident.
