Before long, the situation turned violent. Reports indicate Wilson was tackled and pummeled by furious vigil-goers before Boise Police officers stormed in to break up the scuffle and restore order.
The shocking scene comes as conservatives across the country express outrage over what they see as a disturbing lack of sympathy from the left. Utah Governor Spencer Cox condemned the incident, calling Kirk’s death a “political assassination” and warning that political violence is spiraling out of control.
President Donald Trump, who personally confirmed Kirk’s passing earlier in the day, placed the blame squarely on Democrat leaders and their allies in the media. “Radical left rhetoric” is fueling this environment, Trump said, demanding that it “stop now” before more lives are lost.
