From the moment Biden took office, the border situation collapsed into total mayhem. Between January 2021 and August 2024, there were more than 10 million encounters at America’s borders — the fastest surge in modern history. Federal reports confirmed that millions of these migrants were released directly into neighborhoods across the country.
That influx didn’t just stretch schools, hospitals, and law enforcement. It sent the housing market into a pressure cooker.
Vance didn’t mince words about the consequences.
“Under the Biden administration, the price of a new home literally doubled in four years. It went up 100%,” he warned. “Under the Trump administration, housing and rent prices are up about 1% to 2%. That’s actually in line with what you would like to see.”
Millions of young Americans who once believed they were just a few years away from owning a home suddenly found themselves priced out entirely.
Within hours of Vance’s interview, the Left launched a coordinated meltdown.
MSNBC’s Steve Benen called Vance’s logic “wrong,” insisting illegal immigrants are “low-wage servants” who somehow shouldn’t impact the market — an argument that ignores basic supply-and-demand reality.
Newspapers in liberal strongholds mocked Vance for “nativist nonsense,” clinging to the talking point that the immigration surge isn’t nearly as large as Americans can see with their own eyes.
But even conservative-leaning immigration analysts estimate Biden’s policies allowed 11 to 18 million illegal aliens into the country — the equivalent of dropping the entire population of Pennsylvania into the U.S. housing market in just four years.
Left-wing economists tried another spin: arguing that migrants “mostly rent,” as if tens of millions of new renters wouldn’t inflate rental and housing costs.
Meanwhile, the numbers tell a different story.
In places like Miami — where Biden routed enormous numbers of illegal immigrants — affordable rental units practically vanished. ZIP codes with rents under $2,000 plunged from 83% to just 33% in five years. Communities didn’t just get crowded — they got overrun.
While Democrats bury their heads in the sand, the Trump administration is already executing a plan that attacks the problem from both sides.
Vance laid out the approach clearly:
“What we’re doing is trying to make it easier to build houses, trying to make it easier to build factories and things like that so that people have good jobs,” he said. “We’re also getting all of those illegal aliens out of our country and you’re already seeing it start to pay some dividends.”
HUD Secretary Scott Turner highlighted the regulatory nightmare builders face: “Right now, it costs about 40% in cost of regulations just to build a multi-family development,” he said.
Cutting these barriers while simultaneously removing millions of illegal aliens is already producing measurable results.
Even Federal Reserve officials — not exactly MAGA cheerleaders — have admitted the impact.
Stephen Miran announced:
“Cutting down net migration to 0, potentially even negative because of the deportations that have been occurring, I think is very deflationary.”
Michelle Bowman echoed similar concerns, testifying that immigration surges create “upward pressure on rents.”
The data is unmistakable: enforcing immigration law reduces housing costs.
Vance went deeper, explaining why young Americans are turning to radical politics.
“I see people voting for a communist? Voting for radicalism? Young Americans?” he said. “I ask myself, ‘what happened under Biden to so radicalize young people?’ Charlie Kirk would send me the chart. The percent of Americans married with a home fell off a cliff.”
Kirk calls these the Three Ms: Marriage, Mortgage, Mating — foundational milestones of adulthood. When housing becomes unaffordable, everything else collapses.
As deportations rise and housing regulations shrink, affordability is beginning to improve. For the first time in years, young Americans are seeing a glimmer of hope.
The Left can scream “nativism” until they’re blue in the face. But when Trump’s policies start putting homes back within reach, voters will remember exactly who caused the crisis — and who fixed it.
