The United States launched airstrikes on two facilities in Syria that were thought to be connected to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in retaliation for a series of assaults on US forces in the Middle East.
A senior military official claims that the US has sent two Air Force F-16 planes to the area around Boukamal in eastern Syria. According to The Associated Press, this action has been taken in reaction to the presence of guns and ammunition nearby.
No damage evaluation was given.
The base has reportedly being used by militia groups with assistance from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the official claimed.
The drones and missiles that have been used against American forces in Iraq and Syria are reportedly housed at the selected locations.
According to the Pentagon, 19 strikes have targeted American personnel since October 17.
According to Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder, a total of 21 Americans were hurt during the most recent attacks on the al-Asad Airbase in Iraq and the al-Tanf Garrison in Syria.
According to a recent article from The New York Times, two F-16s launched a total of 30 precision-guided bombs on two distinct targets. Throughout the operation, MQ-9 drones provided support for these F-16s.

“The U.S. sent a message tonight,” Mick Mulroy, a former defense official, said in a statement.
“We will directly respond against Iran, and specifically the IRGC, if they continue to attack our military positions and personnel in Iraq and Syria,” he said.
The attacks were presented by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin as a firm response to stop attacks against American forces that were unrelated to the Israel-Hamas war.
“These narrowly tailored strikes in self-defense were intended solely to protect and defend U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria,” he said in a statement.
“The United States does not seek conflict and has no intention nor desire to engage in further hostilities, but these Iranian-backed attacks against U.S. forces are unacceptable and must stop,” Austin said.
“Iran wants to hide its hand and deny its role in these attacks against our forces. We will not let them. If attacks by Iran’s proxies against U.S. forces continue, we will not hesitate to take further necessary measures to protect our people,” he said.
The statement notes that a contractor unfortunately passed away from a heart attack while looking for refuge, adding to the casualties sustained by American personnel.
