As concerns mount over the looming strike by the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), Americans are being urged to stock up on essential items such as food, gas, and other necessities. Many fear that massive shortages will soon affect the supply of everyday goods due to the strike, which could cripple the nation’s economy at a crucial time.
U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene highlighted the gravity of the situation in a tweet on September 27. She stated, “It’s very important to understand how critical this is given that America is now in a $36 billion dollar food trade deficit for the first time in our nation’s history.” Greene also pointed to the Biden-Harris administration’s excessive spending, which she says has caused inflation to spiral, making life unaffordable for many Americans. “I think this situation is serious and, depending on whether they strike and how long it lasts, could be a crisis going into the election, holidays, and winter,” Greene warned. She emphasized the importance of being personally prepared, as retailers have scrambled to stock up in anticipation of the strike.
