Reports from The Guardian, a publication known for its critical stance on Elon Musk’s free speech policies, reveal that some Labour MPs are highly concerned about the platform’s role in what they perceive as the spread of misinformation. According to these MPs, the platform has become “a megaphone for foreign adversaries and far-right fringe groups.”

Over the past weekend, newly elected Labour MPs voiced their concerns in private WhatsApp groups, expressing unease about X’s influence on the recent far-right-led riots that occurred in parts of England and Northern Ireland. The atmosphere of mistrust towards X has led at least two Labour MPs to deactivate their accounts, with Noah Law among them. As an alternative, some MPs are exploring other platforms, such as Threads, owned by Meta, and Bluesky, an open-source alternative.
