U.S. diplomatic missions across the Middle East issued coordinated security warnings Saturday as renewed fighting raised concerns that the regional conflict could widen further.
The alerts affected Americans in Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates and other locations. The warnings came after Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement claimed a series of missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia. They also came as President Donald Trump abruptly returned to the White House after cutting short his stay at Camp David.
The U.S. mission in Saudi Arabia warned Americans that the security picture remained unpredictable and that conditions could change quickly.
“Due to tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation. Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions,” the U.S. mission in Saudi Arabia announced in a press release.
