Appearing on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo, Tulsi Gabbard did not hold back her criticism of the administration. She accused both Biden and Harris of failing the American people at a time when they were most in need of leadership and action.
“While Vice President Harris and Joe Biden claim to be doing all they can and providing all the resources possible, FEMA is out on the ground, they say, but when you go out into these rural communities, they have yet to see anyone with a FEMA jacket on knocking on their door saying, ‘how can we help you,’” Gabbard said.
The former Hawaii congresswoman highlighted a glaring contradiction in the administration’s priorities. She pointed out that while Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed FEMA was running out of money for future storm responses, the federal government had no issue allocating a billion dollars to resettle illegal immigrants.
“It is a slap in the face to these Americans to also then hear how the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security is saying, sorry, we don’t have enough money because we are providing hundreds of millions of dollars to illegal immigrants and providing them with free rent, free housing, free food, and other entitlements,” Gabbard added.
Gabbard didn’t stop at the federal response. She also expressed concern about the Biden-Harris administration’s overall priorities, noting that the needs of rural towns in North Carolina were being overlooked in favor of foreign countries and illegal immigrants.
“There’s such a huge laundry list of the needs that they have. You look at power. So many of these communities are still without power. There are many small towns with hundreds or maybe a thousand people who live in these towns—as you’re seeing here in these images,” Gabbard said.

According to Gabbard, the Biden-Harris administration had done little to help these communities recover. “They have yet to be able to get the power they need to be able to get access to water and water pumps and wells. They are wondering, where is FEMA? Where are the Army Corps of Engineers? Why haven’t people come out there and started to do the necessary work that the volunteer firefighters are unable to do themselves?” Gabbard asked.
The criticism of FEMA’s absence in these devastated areas underscores a broader issue with the Biden-Harris approach to governance. Gabbard’s remarks revealed that many of these rural communities had not seen any FEMA presence, despite the administration’s claims to the contrary. She questioned why federal assistance was so slow to reach the Americans who needed it most, while foreign countries, such as Lebanon, were receiving immediate financial aid.
The administration announced a $157 million relief package for Lebanon, yet Congress had to reconvene to pass a relief bill for the American citizens affected by Hurricane Helene. This stark contrast in priorities did not go unnoticed by Gabbard, who argued that this exemplified the administration’s “America Last” agenda.
“They’re doing all they possibly can and they’re wondering: Where is our government? Why aren’t they here for us? This is just another example, unfortunately, of Vice President Harris and Joe Biden’s ‘American People Come Last’ policies, and they’re feeling it first-hand,” Gabbard concluded.
As Tulsi Gabbard continues to call out the administration’s failure to adequately respond to Hurricane Helene, the backlash is growing. Harris, already facing low approval ratings, could see this latest scandal further damage her political future.
