President Donald Trump has once again ignited a political firestorm — this time over the possibility of seeking a third term in office. While the Constitution clearly limits presidents to two terms, Trump’s recent remarks aboard Air Force One suggest he’s not entirely dismissing the idea.
The speculation took off after former White House strategist Steve Bannon confidently told The Economist that Trump would return for another round in 2028. “He’s going to get a third term. So Trump ’28. Trump is going to be president in ’28, and people just ought to get accommodated with that,” Bannon declared.
Bannon, who hosts War Room, went on to call Trump a “providential instrument” destined to “finish the job” of rebuilding the nation. He added that “there are multiple alternatives” and hinted “there’s a plan” — though he stopped short of revealing any specifics.
When pressed about the constitutional two-term limit, Bannon brushed it off, saying the “will of the American people” could ultimately decide the matter. “If the American people, with the mechanisms we have, put Trump back in office, are the American people tearing up the Constitution?” he asked.
