Rumors are swirling that former President Donald Trump might take a significant and controversial step during his Middle East trip — officially recognizing Palestine as an independent state. Reports suggest Trump’s trip, which includes stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, comes amid growing tensions between the Trump camp and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Hebrew-language Israeli media, the former U.S. president is reportedly “disappointed” with Netanyahu after the Israeli leader pressured Trump’s then-National Security Advisor Mike Waltz to support a full-scale military action against Iran — a path Trump resisted in favor of diplomatic solutions.
As one source told The Washington Post, Waltz was said to be “engaged in intense coordination with Netanyahu about military options against Iran,” something that reportedly frustrated Trump. “It got back to Trump, and the president wasn’t happy with it,” the source said, describing the growing distance between the two leaders.
