In a bold move ahead of his upcoming visit to Scotland, the White House has officially kicked the Journal off the press pool covering the trip. This decision follows a firestorm surrounding a controversial story the paper published, accusing Trump of having ties to convicted sex predator Jeffrey Epstein.
According to Politico, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the Wall Street Journal would be barred from joining the group of reporters covering the foreign trip, citing “fake and defamatory conduct” by the outlet.
“Due to the Wall Street Journal’s fake and defamatory conduct, they will not be one of the thirteen outlets on board,” Leavitt said. “Every news organization in the entire world wishes to cover President Trump, and the White House has taken significant steps to include as many voices as possible.”
