A surprising new poll out of New Hampshire is shaking up expectations for the 2024 presidential election, raising questions about the competitiveness of the race. On Sunday, the New Hampshire Journal reported a “poll shocker” that revealed former President Donald Trump holding a slight lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in the Granite State.
The poll, conducted by NH Journal/Praecones Analytica, shows Trump leading Harris by a razor-thin margin of less than half a percentage point (50.2% to 49.8%). This narrow lead is significant, considering New Hampshire’s recent voting history. In 2020, President Joe Biden won the state by a comfortable margin of over seven percentage points (52.7% to 45.4%). No Republican has won New Hampshire since former President George W. Bush did so in the 2000 election.

Trump’s national campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt highlighted the importance of the shift, stating, “There’s a reason Kamala Harris has been spending money in New Hampshire. She’s on defense and knows President Trump is on the path to victory.”
