President Donald Trump scored another confirmation victory on Capitol Hill Wednesday night as the Senate approved Keith Sonderling to become the nation’s next Secretary of Labor.
The Senate confirmed Sonderling by a 47–41 vote, officially handing him control of the Department of Labor after months of serving as its acting chief. Twelve senators did not participate in the final vote.
The vote took place at 9:29 p.m. on September 30, near the end of the Senate’s final stretch of business before lawmakers left Washington ahead of the November midterm elections.
