A tense exchange between CNN anchor Dana Bash and Attorney General Todd Blanche erupted during a recent television interview, after Bash attempted to connect a Justice Department lawsuit over Alaska’s election procedures to the events of January 6, 2021.
Blanche, who appeared on CNN’s State of the Union, was having none of it.
When Bash suggested that the department’s legal action could help lay the groundwork for President Donald Trump to challenge an unfavorable election outcome, she raised the specter of another January 6 confrontation. Blanche immediately pushed back, delivering a sharp rebuke that caught viewers’ attention.
“Oh, stop it!” he told the CNN anchor.
The exchange quickly turned into a broader dispute over the Justice Department’s intentions, the administration’s approach to election integrity, and the underlying controversy that prompted the federal lawsuit in the first place.
