Colbert Roasts Democrats for Weak Response
Even liberal talk show host Stephen Colbert, who spends most of his time attacking Trump, couldn’t help but mock the Democrats’ pathetic attempt at resistance.
“He barked out one appalling claim after another, but don’t you worry: Democrats are getting ready to fight back with their little paddles,” Colbert said, ridiculing their weak performance.
Colbert, like many on the Left, believes Trump is an existential threat to democracy, yet he was stunned at how Democrats failed to take their own warnings seriously.
“That is how you save democracy: by quietly dissenting,” he said sarcastically. “Or bidding on an antique tea set. It was hard to tell what was going on.”
Colbert’s frustration boiled over as he called on Democrats to actually do something, saying, “Try Doing Something.”
Pink Outfits and More Missteps
In another bizarre move, female Democrat lawmakers showed up dressed in bright pink as a form of protest. But Colbert tore into that too.
“Many women on the Democratic side showed up dressed in fuchsia,” he noted. “It’s the kind of bold protest that says, ‘This is a test print and your magenta cartridge is working.’”
Rather than making a strong statement, Democrats reduced their opposition to a fashion choice that became yet another punchline.
Al Green’s Meltdown and Ejection
One Democrat, however, did manage to stand out—but not in a good way. Rep. Al Green (D-TX) refused to sit down and heckled President Trump throughout the speech. His antics got so out of control that Speaker Mike Johnson had him removed from the chamber.
“Ultimately [Speaker Mike] Johnson called in the sergeant-at-arms to remove the 77-year-old Texas congressman,” Colbert noted. “Now, some people have questioned why so much muscle was needed to remove one old man with a cane. But it turns out it was for a serious reason: when security searched him, they found that he had smuggled in a spine.”
While Colbert praised Green for his defiance, others saw his behavior as disgraceful. Even CNN’s David Axelrod condemned it, calling it “despicable.”
Democrats Refuse to Honor a Child’s Courage
Perhaps the lowest moment for Democrats came when they refused to stand and applaud for 13-year-old DJ Daniels, a cancer survivor who had always dreamed of becoming a police officer. President Trump announced during his speech that Daniels would be made an honorary Secret Service agent. Instead of recognizing the moment, Democrats sat motionless, proving just how bitter and out of touch they’ve become.

“I think there were times when [Democrats] should’ve risen. I think what Al Green did was despicable,” Axelrod admitted.
Democrats Humiliated Themselves
What was meant to be a show of defiance against President Trump turned into a night of humiliation for the Democratic Party. Their weak protests, tone-deaf antics, and refusal to stand for a child’s dream left even their own supporters cringing.
Instead of challenging Trump, they proved just how unserious and outmatched they truly are.
