The battle for the Republican Party’s future may have just taken a dramatic turn — and the latest numbers are already sending shockwaves through conservative circles.
A brand-new poll from AtlasIntel suggests there could be a major reshuffling happening inside the GOP ahead of the 2028 presidential race. And according to the survey, one name has suddenly surged to the top in a way few expected just months ago: Marco Rubio.
The poll, conducted between May 4 and May 7 among 2,069 American adults, found Rubio leading the Republican field with 45.4 percent support among GOP voters surveyed. That’s a remarkable jump for the former Florida senator, who has steadily expanded his influence inside President Donald Trump’s inner circle during the administration’s second term.
Meanwhile, JD Vance — long viewed as the heir apparent to the MAGA movement — landed in second place with 29.6 percent support. For months, many Republican strategists assumed Vance had a clear path to the nomination thanks to his close relationship with Trump and his popularity among the party’s populist base.
