The former president, Donald Trump, is suing a number of mainstream media organizations. He says that following his ban from Twitter, he formed a media firm called Truth Social, and there they published tales about financial losses in a “coordinated” effort.
18 news outlets sensationally reported on the false $73 million loss statement that Digital World Acquisition Corp. submitted to the SEC, according to a new lawsuit. Media Group demands a gag order and a $1.5 billion punitive payment for the removal of articles.

Prominent media organizations, including Reuters, MSNBC, Newsweek, CNBC, The Daily Beast, and others, are being sued. Prominent individuals like Alex Mena, the executive editor of the Miami Herald, are also parties to this lawsuit. Among the targets are even well-known websites like Mediaite, The Hill, and The New York Daily News. Prominent publications like Deadline, Salon, Axios, The Hollywood Reporter, and Daily Mail have joined them.
The legal team for President Trump contends that media organizations neglected to do enough investigation and accept a revised document that disclosed Truth Social’s true losses of $31.6 million. Moreover, they assert that Truth Social’s remarkable $50.5 million profit in 2022 was overlooked in the papers.
The first report was “was an utter fabrication. Each defendant, in apparent coordination, reported the exact same false number within approximately 24 hours of one another, each citing to a public Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) filing, in which the mystery $73 million loss appears nowhere.”
By filing in Florida, President Trump is better positioned to take on media organizations that are well-known for their unfavorable coverage of him. A court may, in accordance with Florida law, mandate that defendants in an appeal of a lawsuit place the whole amount of money they lost in escrow before continuing. This casts doubt on the capacity of the financially troubled mainstream media to garner $1.5 billion for an appeal in the event that President Trump wins.
