American Hamas attack survivor thanks Trump for helping them to flee Israel’s carnage
After traveling from Israel to the United Arab Emirates, a nation with whom Trump’s administration has established diplomatic connections, Yitz Friedman openly expresses his support for the president. Friedman recognizes that his resignation would not have been feasible without this new alliance.
“I would like to thank President Trump. After days of fear and anxiety in Israel, I am finally on my way home to the US. Almost every airline canceled all flights, including our flight home,” On Tuesday, Friedman wrote.
“We [weren’t] sure what to do,” Friedman recounted. “Luckily, one [of] the few airlines still running flights is Emirates. My wife and I just flew from Tel Aviv – passing three or four armed military checkpoints to get to the airport – and are now safe in Dubai waiting for our connecting flight to the US.”
In 2020, the UAE and Israel broke through decades of cold ties in a momentous historical event. A historic peace agreement known as the Abraham Accords brought together Muslim and Jewish countries, unlocking previously closed doors. In the 2010s, partnership embers first started to flicker, but it was President Trump and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who worked nonstop to reignite them. “If not for the Trump Abraham Accords, this would be unthinkable. There would be no flights from Israel to the UAE,” Friedman wrote. “To be able to fly to a friendly Arab country when even American flights won’t dare, at a time of war, is miraculous.”
“Thanks to Trump’s efforts, thousands of American citizens have a way home from a very dangerous situation. Even as it seems the Middle East is imploding, this historic peace agreement is making things a little better,” he concluded.

While President Joe Biden’s ideas fall short, Friedman’s escape offers hope to the trapped Americans in Israel. The situation is serious with all major airlines suspending travel owing to the intensifying confrontation with Hamas.
