The Trump administration says it has uncovered what officials are calling one of the largest examples of government waste and abuse within the Affordable Care Act in years, alleging that billions of taxpayer dollars were improperly distributed through Obamacare exchanges during the Biden presidency.
According to administration officials, a newly released Department of Health and Human Services report found widespread enrollment irregularities that may have cost taxpayers an estimated $10 billion between 2021 and 2024. The report claims that policy changes implemented under former President Joe Biden weakened verification standards and opened the door to fraudulent enrollments, improper subsidies, and abuse of the system.
