The Left is spiraling into hysteria after learning that President Donald J. Trump has handed the reins of a crucial Homeland Security office to a young conservative fresh out of college.
Thomas Fugate, just 22 years old and barely a year removed from his university graduation, has been tapped to temporarily lead the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3), a Department of Homeland Security division overseeing anti-terror and anti-extremism grants and initiatives. His appointment has sent liberal media outlets and progressive “experts” into full panic mode.
ProPublica, one of the loudest critics, didn’t mince words. They slammed the decision, quoting unnamed sources who called it “reckless.” The outlet emphasized that Fugate had no prior national security experience, yet was now managing an $18 million grant program meant to prevent “hate-fueled attacks, school shootings and other forms of targeted violence.”
His sudden rise from university student to a top federal position has left the usual D.C. elite baffled. Fugate, who once rang up groceries at an H-E-B supermarket and ran a small landscaping service in high school, now oversees federal programs tasked with spotting and preventing terror threats.
