In a stunning defeat for New York Attorney General Letitia James and the Biden DOJ machine, an appeals court in New York struck down the outrageous civil fraud penalty against President Donald J. Trump on Thursday. The ruling is being hailed as one of the biggest legal victories yet for the 45th President.
According to the Associated Press, the mid-level Appellate Division tossed out the massive financial judgment, declaring the punishment “excessive.” The case, which James and Democrat operatives hyped as their crown jewel against Trump, has now collapsed.
The ruling came just seven months after Trump reclaimed the White House, signaling a dramatic rebuke to Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision that saddled the former president with penalties exceeding $515 million.
Judge Engoron had originally claimed that Trump exaggerated his wealth to lenders and insurers. Without a single victim in sight, Engoron slapped Trump with a staggering $355 million fine, plus daily interest, that ballooned the total to well over half a billion dollars.
