President Donald Trump drew attention during the final day of the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, after arriving at a working session that had already begun and delivering a brief remark that quickly became one of the event’s most talked-about moments.
As leaders from the world’s largest advanced economies were already seated and discussing economic issues, Trump entered the meeting room to greetings from French President Emmanuel Macron.
“Oh, hello, Mr. President,” Macron said with a smile.
Before taking his seat, Trump smiled back and replied with four words that immediately prompted laughter throughout the room.
“I’m the boss.”
The comment was delivered jokingly, drawing laughs from the assembled leaders and helping set a lighter tone before discussions resumed.
